How to be a Technical Writer?

I've read a set of articles, and tried to classify them into the following types:

• What is technical writing
• What will a technical writer do in work
• How to be a technical writer
• The document types
• The tools
• Markdown rules; XML editor
• Writing experience sharing

Now the Github still confuses me a lot because I do not know how to use it with markdown editor together. That is so difficult.
