A Spooky Story
Nov 23
One spooky Halloween evening, three friends were traveling to a village where they could go trick or treating. They were Ginger Poppy and Fire.
Ginger was a small female brown puppy. She had floppy ears and a cute, lovable face. Her fur was a very light shade of brown. Ginger loved to eat gingerbread. The name fits her.
Poppy was a tiny female black kitten; her ears were pointy, and her belly was very soft. She loved to roll around in poppies. They were her favorite flowers.
Fire also had brown fur. Like all seals, Fire loved to swim. When Fire was in the water, she could swim almost as fast as the fire spread.
The three friends had stopped in front of a dark, enchanted spooky forest. Inside the forest, it was dark and gloomy. Not even the smallest shaft of sunlight could penetrate through the tall trees. Lots of spooky ghosts lived here. Some were friendly, and some were not. The paths twisted and turned. It was one huge labyrinth! The friends knew there was only one route that led to Trick-or-Treat Village, which led through the forest. After walking for several minutes, the friends realized that they were lost.
"Oh no!" Ginger cried.
"What should we do now?"
"Shhh!" Poppy whispered.
I hear something!" It was a sound of faint signing. "We should follow it!" Fire cried.
With each step, the friends came closer to the signing; then a ghost burst out, "Boo!" The ghost cried.
"AHHHHH!" The animals screamed.
"Did I scare you?" the ghost asked. He had a strange accent. The ghost was almost transparent. But it was also a bit foggy. He had the silver outline.
"Oh, yes, you scared us a lot!" The friends chorused. "Can you help us out of this spooky forest?"
"Sure!" The foggy ghost cried.
Then he walked into the woods.
"I guess we should follow him?" Poppy asked.
"Um, I guess," Ginger replied.
So, they followed
The friends followed the ghost along a winding path.
They stopped in the middle of a clearing.
At one side, there was a sheet of paper.
They crossed the sandy hollow and saw that the paper was a map of the entire forest!
"Great!" Fire cried. "Now we can get out of here!"
"Not so fast!" The ghost said. Then he produced a whistle out of thin air!
"Um, what is this for?" Poppy asked.
"Oh, if you blow on the whistle, I will have magical powers. Then I can come to help you," The ghost replied.
"But beware, you can only use it once."
"Thank you," The three friends chorused. They looked at the map, very soon, they were out of the forest. Now let's continue our journey!
Next up was crossing the river. The current was swift, and it had a lot of sharp rocks poking out of the water.
"We can't cross the swollen river without a raft!" Ginger cried.
"Come on, it's not that hard!" Fire encouraged.
"Easy for you to say!" Poppy yowled. "You are a seal! I'm never getting my paws wet!"
"Fine." Fire sighed.
"I'll help you build a raft. But I'm still swimming across the river!" So, they grabbed the logs nearby, used a few branches to tie them together. Poppy and Ginger boarded, and Fire pushed them into the water. The raft floated across the river, and Fire managed to swim across. Now the final obstacle remained.
They had to escape the witch. The witch had a black coat, a black mask. She had captured the three friends.
"Quick!" Poppy hissed to Ginger. So, Ginger blew the whistle. Then the ghost appeared. The witch was melting. So, the ghost poured water on her, grabbed the keys, and freed his friends.
"Thanks!" they cried. They finally reached the Village.
They happily trick-or-treat!
Who said the ghost was always bad!
