Chapter Fifteen ~Twenty-One
The girls all worked tirelessly. Beth went to visit the Hummels almost every day. Unfortunately, Beth was infected with scarlet fever.
When the dark days came, Beth was very ill. Mr.March was much better, so Mrs.March rushed back.
The young Amy was sent to Aunt March's house. She prayed for Beth every day and behaved well. She became dear friends with Esther. They talked about Aunt March's intention to give Amy a ring for her good bahavior, then Amy imagined her will.
Under the care of Mrs.March, Beth began to get better. Jo told Mrs.March about her worries about Meg and Mr.Brooke. Mrs.March was also aware of this. While taking care of Mr.March, she thought John was a very nice man. However, she still decided to observe Meg's feeling before making any decision.
Laurie mischievously pretended to be Mr.Brooke and wrote to Meg, teased them. The matter was finally exposed, and Laurie was very sorry for his behavior.
Mr.March finally went back home, everyone was very happy. He praised each of his four daughters of their progress.
Mr.Brooke came to visit and bumped into Meg, who was alone at home. The two were a little embarrassed to be alone, and Aunt March helped. They discussed marriage when Meg was an adult and Mr.Brooke had a stable job.
