While, when I was working in Nanjing several years ago, a heavy snowstorm hit the city in the winter of 2008. It was the biggest snowfall in the last 50 years as reported. Cars were trapped by thick snow in the streets; flights were cancelled because of the bad weather; even some railway services were suspended. For safety, many schools were closed /shut down temporarily. There were thousands of passengers were stuck at the airports and railway stations, including one of my customers.
Actually, he was supposed to make an annual supplier evaluation to our company during this trip. However, after arriving in Nanjing, he had to stay inside the airport, the severe traffic problem caused by the snowfall made it difficult to go anywhere.
Fortunately, the government arranged urgent steps to tackle transport chaos. Workers and volunteers worked so hard to sweep away the heavy snow. Finally our driver managed to pick up the customer successfully. He told me he never experienced such kind of extreme weather before, it was really a special trip.
