The Light of the World

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”——Matthew 5:14

Prologue

Revelation

Revelation has its own mystery. Jong-kong once sat at the front of a bus when he was three, while within his brain this thought had flashed through. It was just another normal day, just one of many times that his parents periodically dumped him at his grandparents’ house to use them to look after the kid. He was staring forward fixedly, and the world that was left behind by the whirling wheels seemed to have concealed an unexplainable attraction. His eyes moved to one side of the bus, where yellow hills were passed through on which laid scarce green plants and much more trash. And in that moment of vertigo, he realized that there was something hid in some mysterious places. There must be something unknown beyond this finite landscape, from which orders and harmony flew out. So, what is this boy doing here? At least he should be more important than a burden being periodically dumped to his grandparents, but what is it?

Why am I being thrown into this world?

From watching the objects being constantly left behind by the bus, he realized that that mysterious being was,the fact of his own being. But this idea had exceedingly overrun his mind; hefelt his brain was gonna blow and he didn’t know how to get rid of it; he didn’t know how to explain all of these to his mom sitting beside him, and his father sitting behind had never been considered a person he could talk to.

After several minutes of self-conscious striking to his developing brain, Jong-kong faintly fell asleep. His father didn’t notice, for he was casually browsing theSouthern Weekly, with that tearful article on it; his mother tenderly embraced him in her arms, tried not to wake her only important son.

And outside of the bus it was cold and silent.
