Nowadays, with the growing popularity of computers, an increasing number of students attach less importance to handwriting.
According to a recent investigation, reasons vary for their refusal to improve handwriting. Notably, 51% of the students claim they "write" with a computer, where no "hand" is needed. Besides, 32% of them believe they're so occupied that they don't have extra time for the practice while 11% think it useless. Yet the rest hold other reasons.
Personally, I find no convincing evidence to reject handwriting because, as the saying goes, writing style shows the man. Beautiful and neat hand writing is beneficial, especially for those preparing for the Gaokao. Therefore, more emphasis should be placed on this aspect.
