名词泛滥
Plain English is a language based on verbs . 平实的语言在于动词的使用。英语多用动词，而中文多用名词，而且是大量抽象、空泛的名词。这也是为什么在中译英中常常会堆砌很多大而空的名词。chinglish中就包含了很多累赘的名词。
如，多余的名词，to accelerate the pace of ; 空洞的名词，followring the realization of mechanization ; 范畴名词， opposeing the practice of extravagance . 还有以下这种拖家带口带出来不必要的名词，与我而言，最不容易发现的就是unnec.V.+ unnec.N.+third word 的形式。例如， to reach the goal of modernization = to modernize ； to make an imprvement= to improve . 我们熟悉的improvement ,modernization 都常常会出现这种情况。
抽象名词的滥用是中式英语的显著特点。unnecessary abstraction is one of the worst faults of modern writing . 作者提到avoid abstract nouns like the plague .足以见得抽象名词的臭名昭著了。
