Today is Wednesday.
Gregory spoke many strange sentences which confused Despereaux. No one would escape from the dungeon unless he got help from Gregory or the rats. As Gregory said, Despereaux's only destiny was eaten by the rats. Despereaux absolutely didn't want to die that way. He told the strange man that he couldn't die because he had loved a princess and must serve her, which raised Gregory's curiosity. He pointed a pile of cup, kettle, spoons and bowls, and told Despereaux those were the monument of foolishness of love. He didn't want to talk about the pile of junk more. He promised to help the mouse alive if Despereaux could tell him his interesting love story. Despereaux was the only one mouse that could be alive in the dungeon. Who were the rats? What did they do? There was a rat in the dungeon, whose name was Chiaroscuro, had born before Despereaux was born upstairs. His name meant dark and light. Actually rats didn't care about light. His parents were very funny to give him the name.
