Today is the Dragon Boat festival. We have three days off from school. Like every holiday, it is very busy on the street. But there are also something unique for the Dragon Boat festival.
The first difference is the zongzi. We eat zongzi on this day. My mother prepared zongzi yesterday. She made zongzi the whole day. She made about 100 zongzi. We will eat some today and we will also send some to my grandparents and our neighbors.
The second difference is the story about the festival. It is a sad story. Qu Yuan was honest with the king of the state Chu, but the king did not believe him and didn’t treat him fairly. When the state Chu was defeated, Qu Yuan killed himself by throwing himself into the Miluo River. The festival is in memory of him.
The third difference is the boat race. People try their best to win the race, and we all enjoy a lot from it.
This is the Dragon Boat festival. It is very special and unique.
