Good evening everyone, my name is Harry. This my CC1 speech, and I am gonna share something about myself.
Usually when I introduced myself to others, the first question would be why do you call Harry. You see, Harry is a quite common name, and it is after one of my favorite books, Harry Potter. Like the boy in the book, I also wear glasses. But I am a muggle, and I don’t get a scar on my forehead. Believe it or not, Harry is the most common name that people would call their cats. I don’t know why. But one thing I find similar between those Harry cats and I, is that we both got beautiful and sparkling eyes, and we walk gracefully.
As for the hometown, I was born in Jiaxiang, which is located at the north part of Jining. The city is quite small but with long history. It is known as the hometown of Zengzi, who is one of Confucius’ students. Days ago, when I went to Pingyi, a city of Linyi for business travels, the local people there told me that Zengzi was born there, and they even found his tomb. We argued for quite a long time, and I even posted this on my wechat to ask for help. Lots of replies popped in within a short time. Among those replies, one impressed me a lot. It was said, you were both wrong, Zengzi is Korean.
Apart from the hometown of Zengzi, my hometown is famous for rocks. Those rocks would usually be dig out and transferred to many other cities, either for building houses or for art sculptures. When I was still in school, my roommates usually brought their local specialties to eat when they came back from home, such as carrots, meat, or pancakes. I was never one of them. At first, my roommates thought I was a little mean, never bringing back my hometown specialties. Then one day, I could not take this anymore, and I brought them many rocks. Oh boy, I still remembered their puzzled eyes.
My studying career began in 1995, when I was 5 years old, and ended in 2014. During those 20 yearss, I have acquired basic knowledge to live, made lots of friends and mastered the social skills to deal with other people. In the school, together we played football, we went to internet bar to play games, and we united as a team to rebel against some evil teachers. Those were the happiest time in my life. Even nowadays when I went to my primary school, middle school, high school and my college, I still missed the old days. In 2014, I graduated from Shandong University and entered an IT company. I spent the first two working years in Yantai and Weihai, where I got the chance to know TMC for the first time. When Grace Zhao, who used to be a senior member of Jinan toastmasters, introduced this wonderful club to me, I fell in love with it instantly. We began from a 5 people group, and the team got bigger and bigger day by day. Now Yantai toastmaster has 170 people in its wechat group, and we have 29 registered members. The club got officially registered three months ago, before that we prepared for 15 months. I was so excited when I heard the news. Then two days after the YTTMC’s register, I was told that my work base would be transferred to Jinan. So, here I am, again, I am on my way to build another amazing club.
Ladies and Gentlemen, that’s pretty all about me. A boy named Harry, whose hometown is known as the hometown of Zengzi and is famous for its rocks. I love football, reading, country music and running. Most importantly, I love English. I studies English for seven years, and I have never got a bored moment.
