Yuan Longping Summarizes His Life Experience in 8 Characters
8月9日，是中国工程院院士、著名杂交水稻专家袁隆平90岁生日。
August 9 was the 90th birthday of Yuan Longping, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a famous hybrid rice expert.
孙女为袁送上生日蛋糕，“袁隆平院士生日快乐”的九字祝福被分放在每一层。
His granddaughter sent Yuan a birthday cake, and the nine-character blessing of "Happy Birthday to Academician Yuan Longping" was distributed on each layer of the cake.
蛋糕整体造型以田园风光为主，上面点缀以寿桃，最顶上是一把金黄的稻穗。
The overall shape of the cake was mainly pastoral scenery, embellished with a longevity peach and topped by a handful of golden rice ears.
他总结了八字方针：“知识、汗水、灵感、机遇”。
He summed up the eight-character policy: "knowledge, perspiration, inspiration, opportunity."
10年前，袁隆平院士80大寿时说，“到我90岁的时候,要实现水稻亩产一千公斤。”
Ten years ago, Academician Yuan Longping said on his 80th birthday, "By the time I am 90 years old, I will achieve a yield of 1,000 kilograms per mu of rice."
去年5月，专家对三亚试验田的水稻进行测产验收，结果很喜人，亩产高达1065.3公斤，让袁院士的生日愿望提早实现。
In May last year, experts carried out yield measurement and acceptance tests on rice in Sanya experimental field. The result was gratifying. The yield per mu was as high as 1065.3 kg, which made Academician Yuan’s birthday wish come true earlier.
