My family
People always say that living is like acting and everyone has their own stories. But who actually gave you the chance to start your first page of life?
It is acknowledged that parents’ love is the greatest, because they give birth to us and never ask anything from us. I want to share some stories about my family.
The first part is about love and care. I’d like to say my father is a perfect father in my eyes. He always helps me to acquire more knowledge. He knows that I have a lot of pressure from my study and he helps me with my homework and gives me tutorial when I come across some difficulties. Plus, he always encourages me to read extensively and reommends a lot of great books to me, especially books about history, philosophy and literature.
When I was in middle school, mum was busy with her work. It was my father who cooked balanced and nutritious diets for me. So dad didn’t have time to pick me up and I took bus home on my own, which also cultivated my independence and self-reliance. He is open-minded and allows me to make my own decisions. For example, I decided to study abroad by myself and he gave me 100% support.
Some people take this kind of love for granted. They do many things to hurt the one who loves them most. How can we do this? I just want to say that before our parents become old, we still can do many things to appreciate them.
The second part is about encouragement and inspiration. My mother was born in a wealthy family. My grandpa was a soldier of the Korean War and my grandma was a military surgeon. After my granpa retired from the army, he became the principal of a local primary school. My mother received good education in her childhood, which also influenced the way she educated me.
My mother is quite progressive and courageous. She majored in obstetrics and became a midwife after graduation. She delivered hundreds of babies during ten years. Some of these people still have been in touch with her till now. My father was a soldier who served Nanjing Military Region. When he retired from the army, he was assigned to the Welfare Center for Children in Chuzhou. In order to accompany my father, my mother changed her job to a civil servant in Bureau of Civil Affairs. She was responsible for registration of marriage. So my childhood was filled with candies. I really enjoy the happy time. In the year of 2015, my mum changed her job once again. Now she works for a local food company. Mom sets a great example to me and shows me that girls are not inferior to boys in career.
The third part is about grief and sorrow. My parents had a daughter who passed away in a car accident at the age of 7. Two years later, my mother gave birth to me when she was 36. When I was little, my father told me that I had a sister. Every Qingming Festival, we go to cemetery in honor of my sister. When I was in primary school, I refused to invite some of my classmates to my home. I am afraid that they know my parents are older than theirs, which troubled me for a long time.
I don’t know how my parents got through that painful period. They showed not only purposefulness but also courge to me. In my CC1 speech, I mentioned that my name, Jin Bao was given by my mum, which means I am a treasure to my family. I want to say that I feel so lucky to born in such a joyous family and they are treasures to me.
When I hear some people complain about their parents, I feel sorry for them, because they don’t know the meaning of gratitude. I want to tell everyone that be thankful for what we have. Gratefulness brings great fullness to life. It is high time we express our gratitude to our parents.
