Bai people have their own language---Bai language. In the past, Bai language has no character, so with the birth of generations, the Bai people has been gradually sinicized, and there are many words and sentences are pronounced the same as chinese. The younger generation is more likely to use Chinese and take place of Bai language, such as the sun and moon have their corresponding Bai language, but now children or teenagers, including me, like to use the sun or moon in Chinese.
I remembered once I told my father that I was going to bask in the sunshine. When I said this sentence, the one part of this sentence "I was going to" I used Bai language, but the other part of sentence "bask in the sunshine" I used in Chinese. After I said this sentence, my dad smiled and he asked me wh6 I used both languages to express one sentence. My father joked me whether I had forgotten how to speak Bai language after one year of college reading. I laughed. And my father kept joking me whether he should speak Chinese with me after four years of university reading. I thought some means of expression of Bai language at night, including some articles that how to express in Bai language, but I found many words and phrases that I didn't know how to express in Bai language. I suddenly realized that there must be a lot of people who have sinicized the Bai language like this and have forgotten many of its expressions, and I am one of the typical representatives.
Luckily, nowadays, Bai language has its own language character, and some universities have already set up specialities to teach the Bai language, which canpreserve the disappearance and Chinesization of the Bai language to a certain extent. Because language character can record the custom and tradition of Bai language.
In general, minority languages and characters play an important role in the social life of minority nationalities, which can not be completely replaced by other languages and characters.
