Habits are routines that we tend to follow, without being told or chased. For example, washing before going to bed and after getting up, washing hands before eating, or nail-biting. There are two types of habits: good habits and bad habits.
We are all supposed to have good habits and try to change or eliminate any bad habits. Sometimes, however, it seems hard to do so. Although we are very clear that there are some bad habits we should try to eliminate , it can be difficult to remove an acquired habit, especially one we have had for some time. we cannot sensibly remember not to indulge in the bad habits.
Recently, I have developed a bad habit, that of watching TikTok-like videos at night, after the kids have gone to bed. At that moment, I just want to do something to relax and forget about all the inevitable tiredness I feel. If the watching time can be controlled to a certain amount of time, for example, 10 minutes, watching such videos is not harmful. The trouble is that, watching short videos can make people feel like only a few minutes have passed and so, it is not a big issue. With such a thought, consequently, it’s difficult to stop watching the videos, until very late at night. It’s not just me who does this, as many adults are addicted to watching such short videos. This is not only time-consuming but also harmful to our health. I have tried a few ways to get rid of the habit but so far, failed. Now, I think it's time to ask for help from others, such as Brian. He can help me to switch on the mode which can deny access to the videos.
Sometimes, if we cannot get rid of bad habits, developing good habits that counteract them is another way to make progress.
The more good habits we have, the better a life we will lead.
