I know it sounds a bit cliché and I’m no longer 20, but there are some facts worth noticing. This book did push me to do something that I always dreamed of but wasn’t brave enough to do.
Everyone has one or even more dreams, but most of them are just day-dreams, when it comes to achieve one of the dreams he or she always comes up with some excuses to avoid going for it. Most of the time when I encounter some difficulties, for example, or even some assignments, I would just wait or I would reach out to my friends to help me fix them. I know that is not right, but I just prefer doing nothing. Everyone will get tired, for sure, however, somebody’s just lazy all the time.
“There are always opportunities waiting to be exploited. Instead of waiting to be asked and tiptoeing around an opportunity, seize it. It takes hard work, energy and drive---but these are the assets that set leaders apart from those who wait for others to anoint them.”
The author said so in the book, and I think sometimes we are just not brave enough to walk away from something that’s not our thing and ended up going through every day with regrets and unhappiness.
After reading this book I found out what I’m really looking for in my life and I became quite firm on that.
Life’s full of ups and downs and at the same time, it is full of chances and surprises as well. As long as you practice more, you can find your real self. What I wanna do, who I wanna be, these are actually the driver to lead a happy and meaningful life. “IT IS BETTER TO MAKE MEANING THAN TO MAKE MONEY!” this is my favorite sentence in this book; this sentence also made me think deeper and further about every decision I made now and then.
To do something I really like and feel not tired or exhausted at all is the coolest ever in the world. I decided not to go to graduate school after my graduation. I know why I’m not going to graduate school right after my graduation and when I decide to go, I hope I know why I go. I’m living my everyday life like my last day, I have no regrets, I do what I wanna do when I feel like doing it, of course without bending the law.
I guess we should make more friends with books, especially with different books. At some point, reading really saved my life. Sometimes when I feel depressed I would read books to distract myself. Sometimes a book can keep me away from playing with my mobile phone. Sometimes good books can make me a different person. They will just accompany me without judgment. I love reading paper books, I love sharing some of my thoughts with my book or with the character in the writing by scribbling on the book during my reading process.
