Today is June 1, the International Children's Day. The International Children's Day was first celebrated in Turkey in 1920. And later 54 representatives from different countries were together to discuss the first "World Conference for the Well-being of Children"in the World Conference in Geneva, Switzerland in 1925. It is not clear as to why June 1 was chosen as the International Children's Day: one theory was that the Chinese ambassador in San Francisco(USA) gathered a number of Chinese orphans to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival in 1925, which happened to be on June 1 that year, and it was also the same day with the conference in Geneva. In November 1949, the Women's International Democratic Federation council meeting was held in Moscow. The representatives from China and many other countries decided International Children’s Day as the annual June 1st, in order to protect the world's children’s health and education and to improve the lives of children.The International Children's Day (ICD) is celebrated in numerous countries,usually (but not always) on June 1 each year.
Actually I don't have any deep impression of my ICD. But I will remember this Children's Day. Because I attended a great activity of my son's school in last evening. It was really amazing. I have never seen such a magnificent activity, which actually was a party, just held by one school. And the most unbelievable thing about the party was that all the students of the school, 2,678 students, had taken part in the party. Everyone was joyful.
