One way to solve the problem of parking in inner city areas is to have large car parks around the city center and a public transport network to take people around the inner city. Inner city parking would then be limited and very expensive. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this approach to urban planning?

Some people in favor of setting large car parks in the city center and a public transport network is a useful way to resolve the trouble of parking in inner city areas. However, Car parking is an issue and also cost a lot and even be limited. So it’s obviously that have some advantages and disadvantages.

To start with, there is denying that setting large car parks in inner city and a public transport network have wild of advantages. It’s surely provided a wide area for the cars and bring convenient for people especially the employees who working in the city center and also have car. They usually parking their car far away because the parking area is not enough. If the large parking will have set that would be time-saving for them. To some extent, a well-done public transport network can enhance the traffic efficiency. for instance, the driver does not need to driving a long way to their destination due to the well-done transport network. More branches of the lane can reduce lorry traffic in the inner city, which can improve the traffic efficiency. 

On the other hand, it’s must have some disadvantages. It’s fact that the price of the land in the city center is expensive and the space is limited. Therefore, building a large parking area would cost the government a lot. What more, it’s would waste a lot of time to build an area for parking and also will bring some problems. For example, the construction of roads might lead to traffic jam and even traffic accidents.
