Today is Sunday.
I have heard of the Beauty and the Beast for many years but I haven't watched it. I just know that the fairy tale is about love. A beautiful girl was caught by a beast and something happened made the girl fall in love with the beast. Her kissing broken the spell and made the beast become a handsome young man. In the end they lived together happily. This is all I knew about the story.
When I read the lines of the movie from Teacher Gwen's publish this morning: "If he could learn to love another, and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time.", a strong feeling came over me just at that moment. I immediately knew what the story wanted to tell us. It's really about love but it's not just about love. It's about the meaning of our life. It's about why we are human. The biggest difference between human and the beasts is the capability of love. When a person can't love or don't know how to love and don't know how to be loved, he is totally the same as a beast.
The meaning of life is to learn how to love and learn how to be loved. The process will not end until we die. What we are chasing for is not the fortune, the reputation nor even the happiness, but only the love.
