马斯洛需求层次理论指出人类的需求从低到高依次为：“生理需求”、“安稳的生活”、“归属感和爱”、“尊重”和“自我实现”这五个层次。简单理解即为：首要解决百姓的温饱问题，提供安全、安稳的生活环境并对未来有过上更好生活的信心，在工作和家庭中找到自我归属感、感受到关爱，在工作和社会中受到尊重，最终实现人生崇高的理想和目标。我们一直在第二、三个阶段徘徊，为不能在大城市扎根、没有归属感和方向而迷茫，然而如果回到第一个阶段，每天的生活是在哭泣、抽噎和无休止的讨价还价中组成，你是否还有义无反顾爱人的勇气？你会怎么选择？

《麦琪的礼物》女主叫德拉，而不是麦琪哦，后文会讲到Magi真正的含义。她在圣诞前夜数着手中仅有的零钱，吉姆每周赚20美元，房租每周8美元，几个月以来就只攒了这些钱，1.87美元能给吉姆买什么礼物呢，花销总比预算要多。突然她有了一个主意。

德拉犹豫了一会，下定了决心卖掉头发换取圣诞礼物。经营头发生意的索芙朗妮身躯庞大、脸色苍白、寒气逼人。

那是一条设计简单没有俗气装饰的白金表链，恰如其分的展示着它的价值，如同所有优质的东西那样。确实如此，越是繁琐的东西做工难以做到非常精良，往往显示出粗制滥造的味道，而去除过多的装饰，就可以尽可能的专注于精致和材质。

德拉回到家中，挑选合适礼物的狂喜渐渐转变为对已剪短的头发感到担忧。没有女人会不珍惜自己的头发，没有女人不爱照镜子，而卖头发时为了保持变卖头发的部分整齐，并不会按照正常剪发的时候那样去修饰头上发型，这就是为了慷慨的爱情而付出的巨大代价。

吉姆看到德拉的瞬间，眼中有很多情绪一齐涌出，令德拉措手不及。德拉不得不解释说：“我买了表链，不得已卖了头发，头发还会再长出来的”。

吉姆此时终于说出实情，为了买梳子只得卖了金表。原本他们都是为了对方牺牲了自己最宝贵的东西，却因为命运的安排，笨拙的错失了可与之配对的东西，失去了它实际的使用价值。交换礼物，本不是目的，爱，是你我。

金钱赚的再多有什么用呢？只不过是一个数字，而圣贤才会带给你爱的礼物。关于这个故事，年幼的、推崇实用注意的我读完一直认为两个年轻人缺乏沟通，不在买东西前进行充分商量，这样至少可以买到一对称心的礼物，满足一个人的心愿，而另一个也许等到下一年也可以如愿，这样至少不会造成那么多的遗憾，因此一直意难平：你用如丝长发为我换了金表带，我用祖传金表为你换了琉璃梳。
可是成年后的我发现，爱从来都不需要等待，如果一个人心安理得的享受着牺牲你最宝贵的东西换来的幸福，那么你一味的让步终究换不来他一丁点的牺牲，一件如是，件件如是。有时候自私，只是因为从来没有被给予过，所以原本谦让的小孩也只好大喊大叫、自行其事。自我牺牲和奉献确实是一种勇气，而遗憾的美何尝不美的更加动人灿烂，成全的是你在我心里完美的样子。你我皆凡人，钱财皆外物，心中的感动才能永葆青春，历久弥新。蒲草韧如丝，磐石是不是无转移？
