Today is Tuesday.
At the dinner time, Amelia Bedelia's parents noticed that their daughter looked blue. They thought why she didn't eat as usual. Why didn't she talk a mile a minute, which means very quickly? Amelia told them the reason and the parents tried to make her feel better by helping her recollect the backyard zoo and the bicycle parade but failed.
After dinner, Amelia received a phone call from Jill. The real estate dealer told the girl that she had heard something through the grapevine, which means through or via an informal means of communication or information, especially gossip. The real owner of the lot was Mrs. West. She was a wonderful woman. If Amelia could talk with her, she might change her mind. The girls made a decision to have a try. They thought it was another kind of adventure.
They went to the haunted house where Mrs. West lived. The old lady opened the door and told them she had known them. She was very appreciated that they had helped her to clean up her lot, but her sprinted ankle stopped her to say thanks to them. She also asked if they had ever seen two cats because they are hers.
