The first thing that came to my mind is that ”Am I a leader”. I did not lead a team, did not lead a company. I also did not have a dream to dominate xin jiang. I did not get married, also have no children to lead. But I think I am still a leader. You may also hear this words “one must live like a team”一个人活得要像一支队伍. Just kidding, but every day I really lead this team. In the morning, I need to persuade the “lazy self” that “the world beyond the bedclothes is not haerbin, it’s a wonderful world out there ”. every meal time, I need to persuade the “greedy self” to put down that cake. Don’t mention the work time, I need to persuade the “tired self” to put down the phone. From this way, Everyone is a team. Managing different selves including emotional self, rational self, impulsive self, radical self, depressed self and so on.
Sometime many voices in my mind have a quarrel. They expressed their views, they communicated, they persuade. Final agreement was reached. See how democratic they were. Everyone can say his view. Even that no one buy your view, you have the rights to say, to strive for. when I invited one friend to join toaster master. I introduced Toaster master is a place to improve your communication skills and leadership. He said “I don’t want to be a leader. So, I don’t need to improve leadership.” this is a very narrow idea. You are the leader of yourself. Sometimes you need to communicate with yourself, weigh your different sides, show your ideas. You are the leader of your family, lead to live a happy life. You are the leader of your children, you will listen to your children, communicate with your children, lead your children to study, to play.
When it comes to leadership. I have to say something about my leader. He is very experienced, very gentle, good-tempered leader. His leadership style is democratic. When he assigned tasks to us. He respects our wishes very much, we can select what we want to do, then the rest he will do. He motivates us by providing opportunity for us. He let us lead the scrum team by turns. When I lead the team, I found it’s a challenge work. I have worked a great deal of overtime that half year. In later days I summarized the reasons. My leader’s leadership style is my preferred. but it did not fit me. At that time I also respect every team member’s wills. When assigned the work. there is many communicate. Summary and report work. I did not consider that work. Because of lacking experience. I have to spend half a day preparing the presentation every Thursday. And one team member often left his work to me. And I did not say no. Later he jumped to another company. I understand why I always work overtime.
Someone like me, being concentrated on my own work is more comfortable. I’m not good at making decisions, not good at speaking out my views. Even though I have my views, in most times I will chose to follow others. When we have team building, some one say to go “haidilao”, someone say go “hanbaweide ”. I say “both is ok for me”. when I was in college. One of my roommates wanted to building 10 to study. One of my roommates wanted to building 11 to study. I often find it difficult for me to choose, for me both is ok, but they don’t agree. they must follow their own point.
Yes, in most time, in most occasions, if it’s not a matter of principle, I will say ok, I prefer listening to speaking, I prefer writing to presentation, I prefer staying alone to standing in crowded.
