Once when I was six years old I saw a magnificent picture in a book,called True Stories from Nature,about the primeval forest.It was picture of a boa constrictor in the act of swalling an animal .Here is a copy of the drawing.
In the book it said:"Boa constrictors swallow their prey whole,without chewing it.after that they are not able to move,and they sleep through the six months that they need for digestion."

In the book it said:"Boa constrictors swallow their prey whole,without chewing[tʃu:]v.咀嚼 it.After that they are not able to move,and they sleep through the six months that they need for digestion[dai'dʒestʃ(ə)n]n.消化."
在我六岁时，曾经在一本描写原始森林、名为《大自然里的真实故事》的书里，看到过一幅蔚为壮观的插图。图上画的是一条巨蟒正在吞食一只野兽。下面是那幅图画的摹本。
在这本书中写道：“巨蟒把它们的猎物囫囵吞下，不加咀嚼。之后它们就不能再动弹了，在长达六个月的睡眠中进行消化。”
