During my childhood, my father bought many books for me including writing, story or others. However, my favorite book was Lai Ning’s story book. He not only was a very bright student at school, but also he was a true hero because of his social responsibility. In my childhood, I strongly admired the hero like him. When I wrote my homework, I always put the book in front of me. I tended to think that his spirit gave me more positive energy, so I often told myself that I must learn from Lai Ning. In retrospect, the reasons why I liked the book had three aspects below.
First, he had a clear target. For example, he was an outstanding student at school. Though he was young, he had had a good ambitious that he decided to be a great geologist like Li SIGuang. With his good performance, he entered a key middle school smoothly after graduating from primary school.
Second, he was a well-rounded student. In the school, he always won the reward “Merit student”, “Young Pioneers Young Chairman” and “Excellent young Pioneers” every year. Besides, he gained many other titles of honor like reading activity first prize in the local province, Children Painting Contest Second class prize and Children Calligraphy Competition first prize and so on.
Third, his strong social responsibility touched me. Since he was little, he had a strong sense of social responsibility. When he was only ten, he wrote a letter to the local government that he required to strike the illegal fishing in Dadu river of the local province.
In my eyes, he not only was a good student, but also he loved the motherland and the people. He attended the fire-fighting activities three times without leaving his name. Sadly, on March 13, 1988, he sacrificed his life during the final fire-fighting activity. By reading his story, his courage, strength and competence should be an example to all of us at that time.
