The Summer Palace is in the northwest of Beijing. It is the largest and best preserved imperial garden. The Summer Palace was the emperor's palace in the Qing Dynasty,which covers an area of about 290 hectares. It was once burned down by foreign invaders in 1860. Then the government rebuilt it in 1866. In 1900 the Allied Force of the Eight Powers invaded China and ravaged it again. Then it was repaired several times and existed until now. The Summer Palace combined perfectly the grandeur of the royal garden and the beauty of nature. Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake compose the main part of the palace. And there are different kinds of palaces and ancient construction. It is also among the first group of historical and cultural heritage sites in China.
颐和园 颐和园位于北京的西北部,是现存规模最大、保存最为完好的皇家园林。 颐和园是清代皇帝的行宫,占地大约290公顷,曾于1860年被外国侵略者焚毁1866年清政府重建颐和园。1900年,八国联军入侵中国,再次对其进行掠夺,此后几经修缮,保存至今。 颐和园完美地融合了皇家园林的宏伟和自然的美丽。园内主要由万寿山和昆明湖构成,并有各式宫殿和园林古建。颐和园也是中国第一批历史文化遗址。
