EA开山之作8——同一个产品、不同的描述

体系架构(Enterprise Architecture, EA)的开山之作,之前一直引用,从来没有系统的学习,通过翻译加深理解,与感兴趣的朋友一起学习探讨。做了类比之后,作者进一步强调了一下各类架构描述的联系与区别,这种其他领域类比引出思路,在信息系统方案包装上也是一种很好的技巧。

翻译中自己理解的东西加的比较多,不对的地方大家多多指正。


同一个产品、不同的描述。在强调了建造复杂工程产品的过程中各类架构描述不同的概念后,要强调第二个相反的概念。那就是,这些不同的架构描述对应描述对象的不同方面。表3描述了三种类型的描述,一种是面向产品的材料,另一种是面向其功能,第三种是组件结构关系。

Different types of descriptions for the same product. Before the idea regarding the differentperspectives (and therefore the different architectural representationsproduced over the process of building complex engineering products) isdeveloped further, it is necessary to introduce a second, entirely differentidea. Specifically, there exist different types of descriptions oriented todifferent aspects of the object being de- scribed. Table 3 characterizes threesuch types of descriptions, one of which is oriented to the material of theproduct, another to its function, and the third to the relative location of itscomponents.



尽管不同的描述刻画的是同一个产品,但每个描述都是独特的、独立的,因为每个描述的用途完全不同。此外,描述之间没有直接的联系,只能从一个描述对另一个描述做一些猜测。例如,BOM表独立并区别于功能规范或图纸,物料清单不涉及功能规格或图纸的内容,比如:组件关联结构。根据零件在物料清单中的描述名称,只能对其功能或位置进行猜测。同样,功能规范也不会包含材料清单或图纸的内容,图纸也不会说明材料清单或功能规范的内容。

Inspite of the fact that each of the descriptions may be describing the sameproduct, each of them is unique and stands alone because each serves quitedifferent purposes. Furthermore, none of the descriptions explicitly saysanything about any of the other descriptions. Only assumptions can be made fromone about the contents of another. For example, a bill-of-materials existsindependently of, and is clearly different from, functional specifications ordrawings. Looking at a bill-of-materials tells nothing about functionalspecifications or drawings (relative locations of components). Only assumptionscan be made about function or location, depending upon how descriptively namedthe parts are in the bill-of- materials. Similarly, the functional specificationssay nothing explicit about the bill-of-materials or the drawings, and thedrawings say nothing explicit about the bill-of-materials or functionalspecifications.

简而言之,尽管所有的架构描述可能针对同一对象,而且不可分割,但是每一种不同的描述都是为不同的场景而准备的,每一种都是独立的,而且与其他的不同,

In short, each of the different descriptions has been prepared for a differentreason, each stands alone, and each is different from the others, even though all the descriptions may pertain to the same object and therefore are inextricably related to one another.
