It is usually a good time spending to catch up with friends over lunch. One benefit of working in NYC is the diversity of restaurants. D suggested to try the Greek restaurant Souvlaki GR, located in the heart of Manhattan. Greek cuisine is mediterranean cuisine. Olive oil, wheat, wine, vegetables, meat, and cheese are considered as the major ingredients. While the name of the restaurant, "Souvlaki", is a very popular Greek fast food consisting of meat and sometimes vegetables grilled on a skewer.
This is the first time I've ever been to a Greek restaurant. The moment I stepped into the door, I felt like I was transported to the Mykonos island in the Aegean Sea. The white brash walls, cobblestone floor, and decorating lights and flowers reminded me of the typical photo you would see from people traveling to Greek for vacations.
We ordered Skordalia to share as an appetizer, so that we could talk and have a bite while waiting for entrees. Skordalia is a thick puree made by combining crushed garlic with a bulky base, usually potatoes. It was served with pita, a kind of soft flatbread originated from west Asia, which is one of my favorite. The pita was well made with soft inside and crispy surface, and the spread of skordalia on it added extra flavor.

For my entree, I was hesitated about what to order. Should I stick with salad or try something else? Since Greek Salad is the typical Greek dish, I decided to start with salad first. The Greek Salad Horiatiki came with a pleasantly looking color combinations consisting of five ingredients, seasoned with salt and oregano, and dressed with olive oil.

Ingredients: tomato, cucumber, red onions, feta, and kalamata olives
The salad was a fresh taste, but I left almost all the sliced tomatoes. It doesn't mean I don't like tomatoes though. My favorite way to cook tomatoes is in the form of tomato and egg soup. Next time, let's try something different.
