「 strike 」：

常见意思为“击打，撞击”，这里是“钟表报时，鸣，敲”的意思。

原句：He held me on his knee while I examined his watch, and he made it strike for me.

例句： Did you hear the clock strike? 你听见钟响了吗？

「contain」:

      常见意思为“容纳，包含”，这里是“抑制”的意思。

原句：I could not contain myself for joy。

例句：You had better contain yourself. 你最好抑制你自己。
