孟子悔过的第二部分

孟轲慢慢长大了。但他非常贪玩，不爱读书学习。

有一天，还不到放学的时候，他悄悄溜出学堂，跑回家来。

孟母发现孟轲提前逃学回来，非常生气，她从织布机上站起来，严肃地问儿子：

“你又逃学？”

孟轲看了看母亲，低下头，说：

“念书没意思，我不念了！”

我学到的

1. 慢慢長大了.

本来我想译成grew up gradually, 看了庄老师的解释明白, 这样译的话, 意思就成为 长大了, 而此时孟子尚未长大成人.

另外, 这句话虽然以句号结尾, 中文单独成句, 不过可以和后面一句连接成句, 将这句话变成分词短语, 如 As he grew up, Meng Ke....

再有一个细节是我容易忽视的, 这个句子中, 英文中 代词 he 要写在 Meng Ke 之前, 而中文则正相反. 比如不要写成 As Meng Ke..., he...

2. 贪玩，不爱读书学习

love to play and hate to study 记住了, 用一对反义词这就很妙了, 反观我的翻译就幼儿科了.

想了一下, 咱们中文词汇修饰丰富, 贪玩, 调皮, 捣蛋 等等, 其最基本的含义就是 爱玩 这么简单. 所以这句话就变成 爱...不爱..., 再翻译成英语就会比较容易想到 love....hate了

我想表达的就是, 遇到一些不太好翻的中文词时, 多去想一下它的同类词, 从中提炼出最简单精炼的那个, 再去翻译, 也许就化繁为简了.

3. 逃学, 溜出学堂

play traunt, slip out of school

贬一下自己, 一时没细想, 直接用了 escape, 意思差大了.

slip: to go somewhere in a quiet, furtive, or unnoticed way

escape

n.逃脱；逃避；逃跑；溢出
v.逃避；逃走；避开；泄漏
- to get away from a place where you are in danger
- to get away from work or responsibilities and take a trip or short vacation

4. 念书没意思, 我不念了

这个句式可以扩展到工作, 朋友, 这份公司没意思, 我不干了, 这个朋友没意思, 我不理他了

I find X dull, I'm going to ...

• I find my work dull, I'm going to quit
• I find him dull, I'm going to leave him
