Our character, basically, is a composite of our habits. "Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a charater; sow a character, reap a destiny."
首先要靠知识(knowledge)认识到自己需要改变：what to do. 然后给自己一个足够强大的动机(desire): Why to do.最后要去实践起来(skill):How to do.而开始这关键的一步只能是你自己迈出，因为其他人不可能唤醒一只装睡的狮子。

Effectiveness & P/PC Balance
书中反复提到一句话
The P/PC balance is the very essence of effectiveness.
P是what is produced也就是想要的结果是什么，PC是producing capacity生产力
书里用了一个很形象的比喻，P就是金蛋，PC就是下蛋的鹅。而人们经常为了能尽快拿到金蛋不择手段，最后变成杀鹅取卵。所以这里的effetiveness不仅是效用最大化，更是一种可持续发展的状态。就像昨天说的No step can be skipped. 只有一步一个脚印，遵循投入和产生的自然规律，才能持续得到想要的结果。
在教育孩子时也是适用的。比如想让孩子收拾好房间，此时收拾房间是P,孩子是PC.如果家长想立竿见影的看到整洁的房子，他会不停对孩子唠叨，甚至对孩子大吼大叫。孩子趋于父母的威慑可能会马上行动，可是代价却是孩子和父母间的关系变得疏远了。
