Good evening, my fellow toastmasters and distinguished guests. I feel so excited and a bit nervous to give the icebreaker speech on this stage.

I’m

Doris and my Chinese name is XX. I thought my parents wanted me to be a teacher

for the saying”桃李满天下”,however I chose to be HR after I graduated from Nanjing University of Scienceand Technology in 2013.

I’m from liyang and my hometown is verybeautiful all year round, with different kinds of flowers. Maybe we can gathertogether in April and experience that.

I’m a kind and optimistic person and I likewatch videos, especially street dance shows.

Today my topic is “enjoy the choice you madein your life”. How do you feel when you think you choose the wrong option?

I will share my experience in recent 2 years.After I returned from maternity leave in 2017 and was busy doing HR routinetasks, my inner voice told me why not learn something new. It happened to oneguy I recruited told me that he was learning PMP and everything can be regardedas a project. I determined to learn that considering some unexpected issuesused to happen in my HR projects. I succeeded in getting my PMP certificate inOctober.

Our HR organization changed a lot during myPMP learning time and there were two options for me, one was to be HRBP andanother was project coordinator. as our HR department was in a mess, inaddition, thinking pattern and straightforwardness of the new boss in project departmentattracted me.

I chose to be a project coordinator. Wow. Whata good choice I made!

I can apply my new knowledge into workand learn a lot from my boss, his way of speaking, thinking and dealing withthings. I can use English again with foreign team also make a lot of friends.

However, this good feeling only last 3 months.My boss was so excellent that he was taken in charge of OEM team. Due to lackof manpower, our small team needed to take over some OEM clients, and I wasassigned to be to contact window for BOSCH.

I knew BOSCH! If I’m the customer to buyBOSCH products, I would love its product’s with low price and high quality. Butcurrently I’m the supplier for BOSCH!!BOSCH was one of the toughest clients andwe had no profits on BOSCH products. I would like to tell you a situation. 4sales for BOSCH changed in 2017. I had only half day to handover with previouscolleague, and the previous colleague was also new and he knew little aboutBOSCH. What the most terrible situation was our order management for BOSCHasked for sick leave because of her baby.

Where can I get help???That almost drove mecrazy.

It took my boss and I almost 3 weeks tostraighten out all the history problems, such as wrong data, shipment, payment,price negotiation, customer complaint and so on.

Although it was a torture journey, l learnt alot during that time regarding plant operation, new product development, productmass production, in addition I found out HR can do more things for businessdepartments, last but not least, my communication and coordination abilityimproved a lot.

In conclusion, when you think you choosewrong option, enjoy it. You will learn a lot from that; when you think youchoose right option, enjoy it. You will feel happiness in a long time.
