Hard to Meet and So Is to Part

相见时难别亦难，东风无力百花残。
It’s hard to meet and so is to part .
The east wind slows down and flowers are withering in late spring .
春蚕到死丝方尽，蜡炬成灰泪始干。
It takes a whole life for the silkworm to spite out all its silk,and how the girl misses her boyfriend.
The candle sheds tears until it burns out to ashes and she can’t stop her tears of missing him.
晓镜但愁云鬓改，夜吟应觉月光寒。
When primping in front of the mirror in the morning,she is worried her beautiful hair will turn gray and youth perishes so soon.
She is afraid her lover may lie awake all night in cold moonlight.
蓬山此去无多路，青鸟殷勤为探看。
There’s no more way to Mount Penglai where her boyfriend lives.
She hopes the courteous bluebird acts as her messenger to see him.
【译文】
相见不易分别时难舍难分。
暮春的风吹得百花凋零。
春蚕吐丝结茧到死方止，
蜡烛燃尽蜡油才能滴干。
女子早晨对镜梳妆，
担忧秀发变色青春易逝。
她还担心情郎夜不能寐冷月袭人。
心上人住在蓬莱山不是太远，
她却不能与之相见。
望青鸟为使者殷勤地代她去探望。
【注释】
1. 东风无力百花残：这里指百花凋谢的暮春时节；东风，春风;残，凋零。
2. 丝方尽：丝，与“思”谐，以“丝”喻“思”，含相思之意。
3. 蜡炬：蜡烛。泪始干：泪，指燃烧时的蜡烛油，这里取双关义，指相思的眼泪。
4. 晓镜：早晨梳妆照镜子。镜，用作动词，照镜子的意思。
5. 云鬓：女子多而美的头发，这里比喻青春年华。
6. 应觉：设想之词。月光寒：指夜渐深。
7. 蓬山：蓬莱山，传说中的海上仙山，指仙境。
8. 青鸟：神话中为西王母传递音讯的信使。探看（kān）：探望。
