已经听了无数次，但每次响起“你好，黑暗，我的老友”，还是头皮一阵发麻。我喜欢在夜里，关了灯，静静的听这首歌，就好像在与自己的内心交谈。

1969年的一天，Paul Simon偶然听到一首福音歌曲，里面有一句歌词让他很动心∶“如果你相信上帝、呼唤他的名字，他会在深不见底的河流上为你建造一座大桥。”心动至此，遂产生灵感，于是写下了《忧愁河上的金桥》这首经典歌曲。
同名专辑成为上个世纪七十年代最畅销的专辑之一。虽然这首歌并不是给父亲写的，但是由于歌词中传达的浓浓情感和奉献精神，被外国网友评选为最受喜爱的唱给父亲的歌曲。
可惜，《忧愁河上的金桥》（ Bridge Over Troubled Water）是Simon & Garfunkel作为组合推出的最后一张专辑，他们的音乐理念在这张专辑的制作过程中有了激烈的冲突，并最终导致了二人的分道扬镳。这首歌略有遗憾，只是保罗的独唱。
好希望他们俩能合唱一次这首歌啊，没有加芬克尔天籁般的嗓音，总感觉缺了点灵动。
