When he was thirty-five, misfortune befell（降临） on him. When he was driving across a huge bridge, the steel ropes along the edge of the bridge were broken and he fell into the river with his car.

He suffered such severe injuries that he could no longer continue his job of promoting（推销） tires. When he was forty, he opened a gas station in a town.

When he was sixty-six, he made a living by（靠...谋生） promoting his chicken-frying technics to various restaurants in different places. When he was seventy-five, he felt powerless to maintain his company, so he transferred his brand and patent to others.

The new owner suggested giving him ten thousand stock shares as part of the purchasing price. But he turned down the suggestion. Later the price of the stocks of the company soared（飙升） and he lost the chance of being a billionaire.

He was exactly the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, Harland Sanders. He often said，“People always complain about the bad weather. Actually the weather is not bad at all. As long as you are optimist and confident all the time, you will have a good weather every day.”

他就是肯德基的创始人哈兰·桑德斯。他常说：“人们经常抱怨天气糟糕。其实天气一点儿也不糟糕。只要你时刻保持乐观和自信的状态，天天都是艳阳天。”
