今天早上听友邻外刊讲解又学到了新知。

Oppenheimer," Christopher Nolan's staggering film about J. Robert Oppenheimer, the man known as "the father of the atomic bomb," condenses a titanic shift in consciousness into three haunted hours.比如这样一个句子就高密度地介绍了事件、人物、时长、效果等信息，就像它本身用词condenses所呈现的那样。

A drama about genius, hubris and error, both individual and collective, it brilliantly charts the turbulent life of the American theoretical physicist…这个句子就更是体现了英语语篇理论所体现的信息的传递，层层递进，一部剧关于天才，狂妄天才，狂妄会犯错的天才，又是存在于个人和集体中的天才，是个人犯错还是集体犯错呢……里面的chart, turbulent 更是用得紧贴文本主题内涵，与上文titanic shift 呼应。如果用record 表示，但是就会少了一些韵味和意义。

titanic 这个词我第一反应是泰坦尼克号船，难道是源于此吗？经过查询这个词源于希腊一个巨人家族，此后此词也用于纪念巨人家族。那么泰坦尼克号船想必也是源于此词了。

"Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds."这个句子结构初看会觉得是语法错误，am become 实际上是古英语中的一种用法，用be 是为了表达“此时此刻”的含义，类似的用法在林肯著名的葛底斯堡演说："We are met on a great battlefield of that war."

The atomic bomb and what it wrought define …“wrought”一词有造成改变的意思。英语解释里面有一个解释：beaten into shape by tools ，我顿时明白了比起用change 或是其他词都无法表达出本文上下文反复出现的巨大改变意义。
