Jack seldom gets together with his friends. He usually stays at home with his pet dog, Lucky. They sometimes go for long walks in the park. Although Jack is often alone, he is never lonely. He always tells his friends that a dog is man's best friend.

本课主要介绍频率副词与一般现在时的关系，并介绍双重连接的错误句子结构及改正之道。

1. 本课出现了许多频率副词，计有seldom(很少)、usually ( 通常 ) 、 often ( 经常 ) 、 sometimes ( 有时候)、never(从不)、always(始终)等。频率
   副词通常使用在一般现在时中。注意这些频率副词在句中的位置：
   a. 句中有be动词时，频率副词置于该be动词之后。
   例: John is always busy.
   (约翰总是很忙。)
   Chris is helpful, He is never selfish.
   (克里斯很乐于助人。他从不自私。)
   Because they live far away from here, they are sometimes late for work.
   (因为他们住的地方高这里很远专所以他们有时候上班会迟到。)
   b. 句中有一般动词时，频率副词置于该动词之前。
   例: He usually goes to bed late.
   (他通常很晚才睡觉。)
   I seldom talk to him.
   (我很少跟他说话。)
2. Although Jack is often alone, he is never lonely.
   =Jack is often alone, but he is never lonely.
   (虽然杰克经常单独一个人，但是他从不感寂寞。)
   请读者注意下列要点：
   a. although亦可用though[ðo]代替，均表“虽然”，作副词连词，引导状语从句，修饰主语。我们因受中文语法“虽然...但是...”的影响，而可能在英文里亦说“althought（或though）...but...”，但
   这是错误的用法，因为英文的语法规定两句间的连词只能有一个。“although（或though)...but...”之中，althought（或though）与but均为连词，形成错误的双重连接句子结构。故若采用although
   (或though)，则but应予省略；若采用but，则althought（或though）就应省略。
   例: Though he is nice, but I don't like him. ( X )
   →Though he is nice, l don't like him. ( O )
   =He is nice, but I don't like him.
   (虽然他人不错，但是我不喜欢他。)
   b. "Because...so..."(因为······所以······)亦是错误的双重连接句子结构。故若采用because时，则不可再用so；若采用so时，则不可再用because。
   例: Because he is nice, so we all like him. ( X )
   →Because he is nice, we all like him. ( O )
   =He is nice, so we all like him.
   (因为他人不错，所以我们都喜欢他。)
