1.pacify: to cause (someone who is angry or upset) to become calm or quiet

2.maroon: a dark red

4.spring: an elastic body or device that recovers its original shape when released after being distorted

5.relish: enjoyment of or delight in something

6.perpetrate: to do (something that is illegal or wrong)

7.bogey: something that causes fear or worry

8.tapestry: a heavy cloth that has designs or pictures woven into it and that is used for wall hangings, curtains, etc.

9.moss: a type of green plant that has very small leaves and no flowers and that grows on rocks, bark, or wet ground

11.nozzle: a short tube that is put on the end of a hose or pipe to control the way a liquid or gas flows out

15.paralyze: to make (a person or animal) unable to move or feel all or part of the body

17.venom: poison that is produced by an animal (such as a snake) and used to kill or injure another animal usually through biting or stinging

20.puke: to empty what is in your stomach through your mouth

lozenge: a small candy that usually contains medicine

22.premise: a statement or idea that is accepted as being true and that is used as the basis of an argument

23.covetous: feeling or showing a very strong desire for something that you do not have and especially for something that belongs to someone else

24.ornate: covered with decorations : covered with fancy patterns and shapes

25.opal: a white or clear stone that reflects changing colors and that is used in jewelry

26.precarious: not safe, strong, or steady

27.permeate: to pass or spread through (something)

28.loincloth: a piece of cloth worn to cover the sexual organs especially by men in very hot parts of the world

29.shuffle: to slide your feet along the ground or back and forth without lifting them completely

30.brat: child; specifically : an ill-mannered annoying child <a spoiled brat>

31.scum: a dishonest, unkind, or unpleasant person

32.malevolent: having or showing a desire to cause harm to another person

33.glower: to look at someone or something in an angry way

34.swine: a very bad person

35.spite: a desire to harm, anger, or defeat another person especially because you feel that you have been treated wrongly in some way

36.redolent: having a strong smell : full of a fragrance or odor

37.gnaw: to bite or chew (something) repeatedly

38.embroider: to sew a design on a piece of cloth

39.sprawl: to spread or develop in an uneven or uncontrolled way

40.disown: to say or decide that you will no longer be connected with, associated with, or responsible for (someone or something)

41.mime: to make the movements of someone who is doing (something) without actually doing it

42.brusque: talking or behaving in a very direct, brief, and unfriendly way

43.escort: to go with (someone or something) to give protection or guidance

44.tweezers: a small tool that is made of two narrow pieces of metal which are joined at one end and that is used to hold, move, or pull very small objects

45.scuttle : to cut a hole through the bottom, deck, or side of (a ship); specifically : to sink or attempt to sink by making holes through the bottom

46.sinister: having an evil appearance : looking likely to cause something bad, harmful, or dangerous to happen

47.wrest: to pull (something) away fromsomeone by using violent twisting movements

48.grip: the act of grabbing or holding something

49.snog:(Britain, slang) To kiss passionately

50.decontaminate: to remove dirty or dangerous substances (such as radioactive material) from (a person, thing, place, etc.)

51.unceremonious: happening or done very suddenly and quickly with no effort to be careful or polite

52.wage: to start and continue (a war, battle, etc.) in order to get or achieve something

53.abet: to help, encourage, or support someone in a criminal act

54.eavesdrop: to listen secretly to what other people are saying

55.glean: to gather or collect (something) in a gradual way

56.redeem: to make (something that is bad, unpleasant, etc.) better or more acceptable

57.loom: to be close to happening : to be about to happen
