单词

• footprint
  足迹，脚印

• snowball
  作名词表示雪球。
        ……play snowballs
        打雪仗
  拓展一下，snowball还可以作动词，表示如滚雪球般迅速增大（或趋于严重，变得重要等）。英文解释为：If something such as a project or campaign snowballs, it rapidly increases and grows.
        From those early days the business has snowballed...
        这个企业从早期开始就一直在迅速发展扩大

• rough
  有很多种意思，可以表示（表面）粗糙不平的，（人或行为）粗鲁的，（日子）艰难的，（想法主意等）粗略的等等意思。建议根据上下文去理解会比较准确。

• snowman
  雪人。堆雪人一般用动词build，build a snowman

• kite
  风筝。放风筝一般用动词fly，fly a kite
  拓展一下，在英式英语中，fly a kite还可以表示（带有贬义色彩的）试探舆论或反应，英文解释为：
  If you say that someone is flying a kite, you are critical of them for putting forward new ideas just to see how people react, rather than to put those ideas into practice.[disapproval]
         The Government flies these kites of disinformation, then people feel grateful when the changes don't happen.
        政府故意放出这些虚假消息来试探舆论，而当其中提到的改变并未出现时，老百姓便会心怀感激。

• park
  作名词表示公园，作动词表示停车，泊车。

• windy
  多风的，刮大风的。

• get windy
  开始起风了

• nonsense
  胡说八道，瞎扯。可以单独用，对别人发表的观点进行反驳。
        "I‘m putting on weight."
        —Nonsense!
        “我长胖了。”—“胡说。”

• cousin
  同辈表亲(或堂亲);堂兄弟(或姐妹);表兄弟(或姐妹)，英文解释为：Your cousin is the child of your uncle or aunt.
  注意：可以是男的，也可以是女的。

• sly
  （带贬义的）狡猾的，诡诈的，英文解释为：If you describe someone as sly, you disapprove of them because they keep their feelings or intentions hidden and are clever at deceiving people. [disapproval]

• creep
  （人或动物）悄悄地、缓慢地行进，蹑手蹑脚地移动，英文解释为：When people or animals creep somewhere, they move quietly and slowly. 举个例子：
        Back I go to the hotel and creep up to my room...
        我回到旅馆，蹑手蹑脚地上楼回到房间。

• still
  作形容词，不动的，静止的，（空气或水）不流动的。
        The night air was very still.
        今晚没什么风。
        Gladys was still, then she shook her head slowly.
        格拉迪斯一动不动，然后慢慢地摇了摇头。

• grown-up
  作名词表示成年人，也可写作grownup；作形容词表示适于成人的，成人的，英文解释为：Grown-up things seem suitable for or typical of adults. 也可以表示长大的，成熟的。
        She talked in a grown-up manner.
        她说起话来像个大人。

短语

• pick up
  （风）变大，变强，英文解释为：if the wind picks up, it increases or grows stronger.

• a bit of an expert
  复习一下，在第七集中出现过，表示在某方面特别厉害，特别擅长……
  muddy puddle
  复习一下，第一集的标题，泥水坑

• I suppose ……
  （口语）要我说，我看，我想，英文解释为：You can say 'I suppose' when you want to express slight uncertainty.
        Is that the right way up?
        — Yeah. I suppose so...
        这是上去的路吗？——是的，我想是。
        There's nothing to keep us here, is there?
        — I suppose not.
        这里没有什么让我们留恋的，对吧？——我想没有。

• rules say ......
  法律规定，规则里说……
        The rules say I win.
        根据规则是我赢了。

• creep up on someone
  缓慢地悄悄地靠近某人，英文解释为：If you creep up on someone, you move slowly closer to them without being seen by them.
        They'll creep up on you while you're asleep.
        他们会在你睡着的时候悄悄接近你。

句型

• this is the best ~ I've ever seen.
  这是我见过的最好的……
        It's the best novel I've ever read.
        这是我读过的最佳小说。
        He's probably the best journalist who ever lived.
        他也许是有史以来最优秀的记者。
