新安吏
杜甫 〔唐代〕
客行新安道，喧呼闻点兵。
借问新安吏：“县小更无丁？”
“府帖昨夜下，次选中男行。”
“中男绝短小，何以守王城？”
肥男有母送，瘦男独伶俜。
白水暮东流，青山犹哭声。
“莫自使眼枯，收汝泪纵横。
眼枯即见骨，天地终无情！
我军取相州，日夕望其平。
岂意贼难料，归军星散营。
就粮近故垒，练卒依旧京。
掘壕不到水，牧马役亦轻。
况乃王师顺，抚养甚分明。
送行勿泣血，仆射如父兄。”
作者走在新安县的大路上，听到新安吏在按户籍册点兵。
作者问新安吏：“难道因新安县小，壮丁已抽完，才抓这些不成丁的青年？”
新安吏回答“府帖昨夜才下达，并下令说没有壮丁就依次抽未成年男子。”
作者又问“抽来的未成年男子实在太小了，如何能守住王城呢？”
健壮的中男还有母亲相送，瘦小的由于父母在战乱中去世，就变得孤苦伶仃了。
河水日夜向东流，青山还留着哭声呢！
“不要让眼泪哭干，收住你们纵横的泪水。
眼泪哭干了会露出头骨，但天地终归是无情的，不能改变这悲痛的安排。
我们官军攻取相州，日夜盼望收复其地。
可是贼心难料，致使官军溃败。
我们就去原先营垒就食，练兵也依凭着洛阳。
挖掘壕沟也不会深得见水，放牧军马的劳役也还算轻。
何况朝廷官军是符合正义的，一切必然顺利，爱护战士一目了然。
送行战士不要哭得那么悲伤，长官会像父兄一样关爱你们。
The xin collectors

When the writer was walking on the road inXin 'an County, he heard officials in Xin 'an counting soldiers according tothe household register.
The writer asked the officials in Xin 'an:"Is it because Xin 'an County is small and the number of strong men hasbeen exhausted, that we arrest these young men who are not mature?"
The new official replied, "Thegovernment issued the order last night, and ordered that if there were nostrong men, they would successively smoke the underage men."
The author then asked, "How can theyoung man who was chosen be too young to defend the royal city?"
The strong middle boy was given away by hismother, while the thin one was left alone after his parents died in the war.

潼关吏
杜甫 〔唐代〕
士卒何草草，筑城潼关道。
大城铁不如，小城万丈余。
借问潼关吏：修关还备胡？
要我下马行，为我指山隅：
连云列战格，飞鸟不能逾。
胡来但自守，岂复忧西都。
丈人视要处，窄狭容单车。
艰难奋长戟，万古用一夫。
哀哉桃林战，百万化为鱼。
请嘱防关将，慎勿学哥舒！
士卒劳役是多么劳苦艰辛，在潼关要道筑城。
大城比铁还要坚固，小城依山而筑，高达万丈。
请问潼关吏：你们重新修筑潼关是为了防御叛军吗？
潼关吏邀请我下马步行，为我指着山隅为我介绍情况：
“那些防御工事高耸入云端，即使飞鸟也不能越逾。
胡贼来犯只要据守即可，又何必担心西都长安呢。
您看这个要害的地方，狭窄到只能一辆车子通过。
在战事紧急时挥动兵器拒守，真是‘一夫当关万夫莫开”呀。”
“令人哀痛的是桃林塞那一败仗，唐军死伤极多，惨死黄河。
请嘱咐守关诸将领，千万别蹈哥舒翰仓促应战的覆辙。”
