课程设计和课后反思
本课时内容选自English in Mind Book 1 的Unit 9 It’ll never happen 单元中的Culture in mind模块——Predicting the future? 该语篇介绍了四种不同形式的占卜方法，分别是星相学Astrology，手相学Palmistry，幸运饼干Fortune cookies（通常在西方的中国餐馆会见到）和茶叶占卜术Tea leaves reading。
本次授课对象为我校中预（1）班学生。学生们已具备一定的英语阅读能力和口语表达能力，但对占卜相关的专业词汇和文化背景知识了解较少，可能对部分内容理解存在困难。同时，学生对神秘话题会充满好奇。这节课会避免对于“占卜”可信度过多探讨（点到为止）。作为授课老师，我会更多引导学生以辨证的态度看待占卜，同时从3个层面，用3C（即文化层面Culture，人类好奇心Curiosity和社会意义Connection/Communication）带领同学们探讨占卜存在至今的原因和意义所在。
下面记录我的一些上课环节，并且以不那么formal的方式，复盘下这节公开课~
上课步骤
1. Duty report. 这个环节中，我印象最深的是，做演讲的Elsa同学带了手稿。我果断偷偷拿下了她的手稿。她稍有停顿，马上又镇定自若完成了这个演讲。虽然她即兴发挥的时候，有一些小差错，但总体很流利。（相信这对于Elsa也是一次别样的体会和成长的机会！）尤其当她提到的“心诚则灵”四个字，引起我的关注。我把“心诚则灵”四个字，写在了黑板上。
在她演讲结束后，Moni同学第一个勇敢举手，点评了Elsa的演讲！太赞了为我们大家回答问题环节开了个很好的头！Elaine也很积极举手。我随后指着黑板上的“心诚则灵“四个字和大家说As an English teacher, this is the first time for me to write Chinese on the blackboard. 然后我即兴邀请在座同学，也来试着翻译“心诚则灵”。我即兴喊起来Jerry。他没有怯场，略微思考了五秒钟，翻译成If you believe in yourself, you will make your dream come true. 哇我觉得很好啊！Olivia也翻译成了If you have faith, you will achieve things in the future. 特别棒！我说My version 是：If you are sincere enough, the whole universe will answer your call. 学生很起哄，我话音刚落他们一阵鼓掌哈哈哈。都是氛围组选手啊！
2. 进入到warming up 小游戏环节。我化身为fortune teller告诉大家Kathy今天要make predictions啦！大家看看准不准。 在这个环节，我让学生们从1到100区间里想一个数字，想好了吗？想好后大声念一遍“English is fun” (占卜不就是要一种仪式感嘛)。接下来，我让他们报出数字，然后呈上了我的花花小纸片。背后是一句prediction.横线处就是刚才同学报出的那个数字。这个游戏他们太喜欢了！几乎所有人都举手，跃跃欲试！（好吧我是不是应该考虑去做专职的fortune teller呢？哈哈哈just kidding!）
给学生的预言如下——
1. If you fail to bring your homework, Kathy will ask you to do it ____________ times. (Are you sure, Miss?)
2. You will get a small prize from Kathy if your score in the final English exam is over ________________.
3. Mr Tao will ask you to sing songs for ___________ minutes in today’s class meeting.
4. You will be called to our headmaster Mr Du’s office __________ times next semester. ( I don’t know what you will do. May it be something good!)
5. You will get an extra ___________ yuan for your pocket money this weekend!
6. Your mom will allow you to play computer games for as long as ______________ days this summer vacation!
7. Your best friend will buy you lunch _____________ times in the school canteen next semester.
复盘啦！最好玩的是Tahiti抽到的签，配合他的数字100，他要在今天下午的班会课上唱100分钟的歌。哈哈哈！还有Hubery抽到的签，期末考试过了70分，就可以收到Kathy的礼物啦！（还好我现场让Hurbery把数字从17改到了70。我内心想，明明应该让Hubery 说85以上的哈哈）最绝的是Michelle, 她说了个数字60。我说“这是个很安全的数字~“然后一看，哇Michelle的家长会让她在暑假一连玩上60天的游戏！大家一阵Wow! That is the whole summer! 不知道Michelle的愿望能够实现吗？
问大家感觉怎么样，开心吗？大家基本都很开心啦！（Tahiti 不开心，他不想唱歌哈哈哈）Sheila一脸遗憾说，No, I am not happy. I am sad because I didn’t get the paper.我答应Sheila说好下次再带你们玩一次（啊我会eat my words嘛？？）Sheila马上说她开心了。哈哈戏精同学。这种直率的情感表达，给我们的课堂增添了更多色彩！
3. 从上个环节学好reliable, nonsense, weird生词后，让同学们看更多的占卜方式。Eric看到八卦很激动，说这个很reliable. 我联想到Eric是个TCM的爱好者（Traditional Chinese Medicine）哈哈难怪看到八卦图很激动。Eric说到了yin yang 的balance.这个回答也令我印象深刻。
4. 进入到课文主题。Astrology当中我们学personality这个词。我问大家，What is Kathy’s personality? Sheila一口气报了很多，第一个就是passion for teaching(哎呀呀这个评价我真的很喜欢！Passion之后Sheila还说了好多，说的好快，我走神了，当时在想哎呀这个问题其他同学没法回答了。所以没有听清楚后面的几个词。)我再问Hubery, 他回答：The same as Sheila. 哈哈哈~也算回答了不是~ 问大家：Kathy 需要再拥有其他好的qualities吗（虽然不一定是Personality）大家一致回答No~（太给面子了~正在码字写这一段的我，不禁又一次诚惶诚恐中，感恩大家高赞~）
5. 下一个环节。给大家发下worksheet.比较东方生肖和西方星座的异同。我和大家说，写作文要有message, 也最好加入文化含量。所以这次身体力行，也把culture放进去。题目有点难度，但是也有不少同学完成的不错！这里印象深刻的一个问题，来自Deng Deng. 她举手问我，“Kathy在这处横线上，为什么填入interest 做单数，而不是interests？明明是很多西方人呀。应该填入interests呀！”我给到了我的回答。 我当时心里想，Deng Deng 很棒！可以not be afraid of raising questions in class. 这种钻研又细致的精神，也是我很admire的。我也要像Deng Deng同学学习细心呢！
6. 到了我也很中意的fortune cookies 和wise saying的环节啦！大家先补全三句wise saying。大家在Wise Saying 1: One that would have the fruit must ______ the tree. 这句中，有人填入chop, 有人填入grow, 填入have, 虽然我给的答案是climb，但是大家回答都在理啊。我问这句告诉我们the importance of…有同学接上“climbing” （哈哈哈这份幽默感，我跪了）后面说到importance of hard work就正经又在线了。
第二句：Wise Saying 2: People learn little from success, but much from______. 我印象中Ivan 第一个举手说failure. 我问大家喜欢success 更多还是喜欢failure?大家说success! (啊我也是喜欢success的！)不过，我在课上告诉大家，当我到了一定年龄的时候，我会发现success和failure就好像是八卦中的阴和阳，互相对立又互相补充（contradict and complement）等大家慢慢长大，慢慢体会啦！
7. We think fortune cookies are popular not because they can tell fortunes, but because ___________________________________(Hint: give as many reasons as you can!)
然后，请大家自己设计一个wise saying或者prediction. 装在Kathy给到的fortune ball里，最后给到自己care的人。设计这个模仿fortune cookies的课堂小活动，也是想带大家认识到占卜作为带来欢乐和链接的社交工具，有其重要价值呢！
8. 后面设计的两个问题，由于时间限制，没有办法在第一课时探讨。就请同学们带回家做吧！
下课铃响了，欢快的课堂结束了。
我其实也给听课的13位老师准备了彩蛋啦！给每人的蛋里，放入一个我给他们的预言~其实准备彩蛋的时候，我还暗搓搓在其中一个fortune ball里藏了一个类似“轮到你开课 ” 的小预测（哈哈哈不知道拿到这个fortune ball的老师会喜欢这个预测哇~）我看到听课的老师拿到这些fortune balls的时候眼睛里都闪着开心的光芒！哈哈哈我也想有这种又听课又拿礼物的待遇。希望那位拿到我“预祝开课成功”小字条的那位老师，有没有可能在不远的将来，邀请我去深圳听他们一次英语课！哈哈哈~
今天我们班上的每个同学都很出色！你们肯定也以自己的方式，享受了课堂，并且获得了成长！感谢大家的配合！这节课，我认为已经可以打85分啦！（15分扣在我身上，时间控制上欠缺了，可爱的同学们，你们拿满分！）
