跟读内容：今天跟读的是C12 Test3 Par4的第21句-第30句

跟读心得日记：
1、The lab-based studies have the advantage that you don't get all the variables you would in a natural setting, so the experimenter has a much higher level of control, and that means they can be more confident about their results in some ways. （C12 Test3 Part4第21句）
这句话中，一下子包含了三个与做科学研究相关的词汇，一个是lab-base studies，基于实验室的研究工作；
第二个是variables 变量；第三个是experimenter，这个词我刚听的时候，没有注意到后面的er，还是跟读成experiment，听得时候是感觉有点怪，后来发现确实与experiment不一样，加er，表示实验者，实验人员。
2、So what are the implications here for humans?（C12 Test3 Part4第23句）
implications这个词感觉在当下得英语中听到的越来越多，它既可以用来代替effect，表示影响，也可以用来代替significance，
3、Well, because many birds are migratory,they may be transporting mercury far from contaminated sites. （C12 Test3 Part4第24句）
跟读这句话，一直听不太清migratory这个词，但我大概知道其是什么意思。查了一下，这个相当于是migration/migrate的形容词形式，表示迁徙的
4、But these birds likely had mercury levels high enough to warrant concern for human consumption.（C12 Test3 Part4第26句）
warrant concern是一个固定搭配，表示合理担忧，或者值得考虑的情况。但我以前完全不知道，所以跟读到这个地方，完全卡壳，不知道到底是哪个单词。
5、Well, we also know that in humans,mercury causes developmental delays in the acquisition of language,and in fact this process is very similar in the brain regions it involves and even the genes that are involved. （C12 Test3 Part4第28句）
今天跟读这句话，才意识到develop还有developmental这样一个形容词形式，表示在发育中的，在发展中的等意思。developmental delays就是一个病症叫发育迟缓。
另外英文中还有一种值得注意的表达方式，比如这句中的in the acquisition of language,其实是动词表达 acquire language的换一种说法，在英语当中经常这么变换。
比如in the attact of disease; in the defence of our country....
