Chapter 3 The illusion
Fair and slim arms stretched out from his white scientist-styled cloak, Dr. Mystery waved at me with a gentle gesture asking me to come over. I looked at him in a puzzled way, as if saying how I could get to you without any wings like thing. Simultaneously,My brain ached, the world in front of me blanked into temporal darkness. When I opened my eyesonce again, I managed to make a step forward and dicovered the emptiness below me. “How did he know what I was thinking about?” I thought. “And what was the technology in this floating function? ”
A melodic voice entered my mind, “You are wearing an invisable anti-gravitational device which my trainee just plugged into your head, as long as you are in Oxbridge you can enjoy the fun of zero-gravity and of course, you can’t remove it before you left.Well, if you ask why I could enter the deepest part of your brain, it’s a secret just like you always likes a girl named Alice of your school. ” I was totally embreassed, this implicit crash hadn’t been discovered by anyone for years, even my best friend Michael. But, Dr. Mystery, a total stranger read my mind easily. My heart beat rapidly, but I tried my best to convince myself tocome down. Perhaps he was just too clever, I thought, without noticing a slightest grin emerged behind the mask.
“So Kendrick, would you like to start our trip to the pas…sorry, I mean the Mysterious Laboratory, your big dream aside from sleeping with Alice Malcom. Hah, that’s hilarious!”
I frowned, How could he say filthy things like that in front of all these assistants? Is he the real Dr. Mystery who owned those gorgeous inventions? I bet he was not. I shouted to the man in cloak without hesitation, “You are just an obscene bastard, you horny asshole!”
It seemed my intuition was correct, when I realized a creepy laughter echoed in my head, “You are right, my dearest little creep, I am the illusion of Dr. Mystery, and congratulations for passing his test, wish you can enjoy a pleasant death!” The bubble of aerogel disappeared as well as the figure in white, “Welcome to The Mysterious Laboratory!”
I didn’t know why, but the words gave me chills.
