Concrete Walkway
By Jacob Yang
They like to walk on concrete walkway
Because it throws no dust and leaves no footprints
They test its hardness with deep and shallow steps
It measures their heaviness with high or low echoes
They are not heavy——
The cracks on its back are not caused by their feet
But by the heavy hearts
Those unpredictable cracks draw a metaphorical map
The walkway leads to a clear direction
But they criss-cross, and get lost
