They played a few more rounds afterward, not calling it a night until around eleven o'clock, when they reluctantly headed back to their dormitories. Eve felt like she had grown a little closer to Evelyn and the others now, so she walked back with them. While they chatted animatedly among themselves, she stayed quiet, replaying the games in her mind.
Why had the wolves lost that first round? For starters, the Mechanical Wolf had acted completely against all logic. He'd copied a double-kill ability, but instead of lying low and pretending to side with the good team, he'd claimed to be the Seer and given his minor wolf teammate a Villager identity. What if he hadn't fooled the good players? He would have been voted out on the first day, leaving the wolf team with no chance in the later stages. And what if his minor wolf teammate had thought he was a good player pulling a trick and called him out as a fake Seer? There would have been no way to recover from that. Then there was the minor wolf who'd received the Villager identity—instead of figuring out that the Mechanical Wolf was his leader copying his role, he'd turned on him and claimed to be the Seer himself, getting his leader voted out instantly. To make matters worse, the two minor wolves off the ballot, including the one who'd been given a false Villager identity by his teammate, hadn't even voted for their own pack, so the wolves hadn't even managed to secure the Sheriff badge. Finally, they hadn't even bothered to learn the basic rules—claiming to be the Seer when they hadn't joined the nomination phase had exposed them as wolves without any room for doubt.
Of course, the good team hadn't been entirely without flaws either. On the nomination stage, Player 4, not knowing Player 5's identity, had directly said that either Player 5 or Player 6 must be the Seer, hoping Player 6 would proxy claim the role for him. He hadn't stopped to consider what would happen if Player 5 was a wolf—Player 5 could have easily accused Player 6 or even Player 4 himself of being a wolf. That had been a reckless move for someone claiming to be the Seer.
