这首歌有两个版本的故事
第一个是一个身患绝症的男子面临死亡时，对朋友，父亲，孩子的依依不舍。
但我更喜欢第二个版本
说的是一名男子，和妻子女儿过着幸福的生活。虽然为了让家人过更好的生活，他不的不隔一天横跨几个州去送货，但他依然很幸福。
然而在一个寒冬的早上，当他回到家，看见了和他从小一起长大的好兄弟和妻子一起躺在床上。他悲愤的问了一句“why”，然后拿起防身用的手枪，结束了妻子和朋友的生命。
他本可以开车逃跑，但他却开着车径直去了警察局自首。
最后他被判故意杀人罪，执行电椅死刑。
这首歌就是他临终的遗言。
我比较喜欢这个版本，感觉故事更加丰满，这首歌带个我的感情更加强烈。
代入这个故事来听这首歌，会有一种将要新生的感觉。感觉故事中的男子，对自己所做的一切不后悔，他知道自己是错的，也坦然的接受对自己的审判。
