The electric-grid collapse of Texas in mid-February was predictable, since not only had scientists had cautioned the extreme weather caused by global warming, also the energy regulators had pointed out Texas’ series of ill plannings for unprecedented winter storms in advance. It signals that the US and the global community should take climate changes in a more serious way and make holistic and integrated planning for the incoming upgraded disasters, since growing numbers of research have indicated that extreme weathers happen as the fallout of rising temperatures. Increasingly extreme disasters would exert a string of negative effect to all aspects of human life. For now, global communities should invest more into the workable prevention measures, but the existential threat in the future should also be taken into consideration. The coming of the new climate requires new attention and adaptation.
