这段时间，周兴和从不同渠道打听到，有关部门的人到处给建材检测部门打招呼，要么不给“星河”牌五防轻体隔墙板检测，要么就得给它们检测不合格。同时他们到处散布，什么五防隔墙板是秸秆做的，火一烧就燃，水一泡就烂。许多建筑商不明真相信以为真，都不敢使用“星河”公司的产品。

按国家规定，隔墙板的检测指标是7项，可有关部门却要求周兴和的五防隔墙板检测指标达17项；更有甚者，仅防火检测这一项指标，国家规定检测时间不超过40天，可“星河”公司的产品送到防火检测中心检测，从抽样、封样到送检达一年零七个月，周兴和给他们打了几十个电话，他们不是说检测的产品太多还在排队，就是说“快了快了，等候通知”；明明国家标准规定耐火时间60分钟为极限，他们的产品仅仅才54分钟就停止了检测；于是第二次再检测，又进行了188分钟——所有的一切归结起来，就是两个字：刁难！让你“星河”公司的产品不能进入市场。

The national standard stated that the fire resistance time was 60 minutes as the limit, but their products stopped testing after 54 minutes. So, it was test again, for another 188 minutes - To sum up: they deliberately made difficulties! To keep the products of "Xinghe" Company out of the market.
在检测之前，周兴和要求检测部门在检测他产品时能通知他到场，得到的答复是不行。周兴和告诉他们，这个要求不过分，本来检测结果就要公开，希望他们在检测时电话通知他，以便找出材料的问题好进行改进。

1998年8月17号，周兴和正在双流机场接客人，已经是下午5点钟了，他突然接到检测部门工作人员的电话：现在正在检测你的产品，你不是要到现场来看吗？你来吧。

周兴和听到这个消息后，顾不得再接客人，也顾不得天色已近黄昏，他委托出租车司机替他接客，立即匆匆赶往检测地点，路上用时1小时20分。可到了一问，门卫说他们的产品早在3个多小时前就检测完了，而且结果为“不合格”！
When Zhou Xinghe heard the news, regardless of the fact that it was almost dusk and he needed to pick up the client, he commissioned a taxi driver to pick up the client for him and hurried to the test site. 夜已经很深了，周兴和实在睡不着了，一个人在小区里沿着林荫小道慢慢踱来踱去——产品的成功失败在此一举，如若成功，那产品就可以取得合法的准生证，就可以上市；如若失败，自己多年的心血和资产都将付诸东流。这一年，周兴和已经45岁了，要想重新创业几无可能了，他身背的沉重债务，也只有让下一代来偿还了。从另一个意义上说，人类用秸秆作为建材，取代秦砖汉瓦的希望就可能成为泡影了。

周兴和想了无数的补救方法，但都被他一一否决了。半夜12点，周兴和拨通了检测负责人王某的电话，非常客气地与他沟通，但都以不愉快的谈话结束。凌晨4点，周兴和又再次拨通了王某的电话，告诉他：第二天不能撤除我公司的隔墙板。王某不同意：我们每天检测任务排得很满，必须要撤除。周兴和最后直截了当对他说：我认为你们有损害我们公司利益的行为，因此我要取证。王某回答：我们不允许取证。周兴和决绝地告诉他：明天早晨8点，我会准时前来取证！说完，他挂断了电话。

凌晨，周兴和叫起了和他一起送样品的黄工，与驾驶员一同再去检测中心，他的想法是到那里后再见机行事。早上6点，他们到了地处山沟的检测区，从后门悄悄进去查看现场检测情况。周兴和怀着一丝侥幸：如果能取到他们作弊的证据，上班时就可以和他们做一番理论了。
In the early morning, Zhou Xinghe called the worker Huang who had delivered the samples with him and went to the testing center with the driver. His idea was to play it by ear after they got there. At 6:00 a.m., they arrived at the test area in the gully and slipped in through the back door to check on the site. Zhou Xinghe counted on his luck: if he could get evidence of their cheating, he could have a base to argue with them.
四周静悄悄的。微明的晨光里，除了山林的鸟儿几声鸣叫，整个检测中心是一片死寂。周兴和他们来到检测炉前，仔细一看——啊，原来他们送检的隔墙板上，上面用粉笔写着几个数字，数字显示，他们送检的材料检测是154分钟！

周兴和见此情形，他真是欲哭无泪！他立即叫同行的人进行了照相取证——他知道，隔墙板在检测时，布置了9个火力检测点，这些测试点检测的温度反映到电脑里，将测试出1600多个数据；然后将所有数据综合起来才是检测结果，法律上才能生效。
Zhou Xinghe saw this situation, and he really wanted to cry! He immediately asked his colleagues to take a photo as evidence - he knew that during the partition board test, there were nine fire test points, and the temperature of these test points was reflected in the computer, to present more than 1,600 test data; and then combined with all the data to get the test results, which shall be legally valid.
天色渐渐亮开了起来，周兴和等人离开了检测处，很快隐于朦胧的晨雾之中。周兴和取得了检测的证据后，随后和检测中心的人经过几次可以说是惊心动魄、跌宕起伏的较量，终于让对手败下阵来。

周兴和是个执拗的人，在产品耐火极限检测时，原本只需60分钟，但为了证实自己产品的超强防火性能和耐火极限，他让产品整整进行了188分钟的检测！其实，他对自己产品的性能最清楚，试验和实际使用早已证明，就连混凝土里的工字钢被烈火融为铁水，可他的以秸秆为原材料的轻质墙板却毫发无损！
Zhou Xinghe is a stubborn person, in the fire limit test, which is originally only 60 minutes, but in order to prove his product's super fireproof performance and fire endurance limit, he let the product test for 188 minutes! In fact, he is most aware of the performance of his products, and the test and practical use has already proved that even the H-steel in the concrete is melted into liquid iron, his lightweight wallboard with the straw as the raw material has been unscathed!
检测结束，面对最终的检测结果，防火中心的工作人员大感意外，客观上已完全证明他们先前的检测的失误。无可争议，最后他们只剩一个选择，在检验报告上签字盖章。
