During the COVID-19 pandemic, the remarkable, unprecedented progress made over the previous two decades in global health and development has stalled, and in many cases even reversed. Sadly, instead of accelerating efforts to fight infectious diseases, help reduce extreme poverty, advance gender equality, and address the effects of climate change, the world has so far failed to step up with the necessary political will and resources.

In that context, at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation we are proud to be doubling down on our commitment to our core mission: helping to ensure that every person has the chance to lead a healthy, productive life.

主席指出，当今世界正经历百年未有之大变局，世界进入新的动荡变革期。面对全球和平事业何去何从这一时代之问、世界之困，主席心系全人类前途命运和安危福祉，以大国领袖的雄韬伟略和世界情怀，高瞻远瞩提出全球安全倡议这一重大理念和行动方案。去年底举行的中共中央外事工作会议指出，构建人类命运共同体是新时代中国特色大国外交追求的崇高目标，并将落实全球发展倡议、全球安全倡议、全球文明倡议明确为构建人类命运共同体的战略引领。

译文：

As President points out, the world today is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, and has entered a new period of turbulence and transformation. What is the prospect of global peace?  Keeping in mind the future, security and well-being of humanity, President displayed great strategic insight and global vision as the leader of a major country, and put forward the important vision and action plan of the GSI. At the Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs held at the end of last year, building a community with a shared future for mankind was made the noble goal of China in conducting major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics for the new era, with the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative serving as strategic guidance.
